Halloween 2010

This Halloween I couldn't decide between two costumes. There was the astronaut costume from the store and then there was the robot costume that I made.
I made my robot costume from a nighttime pull-up box and my old Buzz Lightyear costume from last year. I cut openings in the box for my eyes and then covered up the front of box (or the robot's face) with pieces from Halloween napkins. The one design flaw in my costume was that the eye openings on the box were covered with the napkin pieces. This flaw proved to be a problem.

The day before Halloween I "trick or treated" at the outdoor Greenway Station Mall near mommy's work. I decided I would wear the robot costume on Halloween eve. I got a lot of compliments and laughs as I passed by people. I think people were laughing because it was obvious I couldn't see where I was going.

We found that running (instead of walking) between each house produced a lot more candy. I hope we can remember this for next year.

Badger Football Game

Saturday, October 9th marked my very first Badger football game. It was the Badgers' "Homecoming" game. I'm not sure how that applies to me, since I never left home. Mom was away for the weekend up in Minneapolis, so dad and I were bachelors for the weekend. Here I'm standing in front of some strange statue made out of footballs.

It was fun sitting in the same seats my dad and grandpa sat in for the last 20 years.
It also was a very warm day for October. Drinking ice cold lemonade sure is nice.
The Badgers are about to score a touchdown against the lovable, yet inept Minnesota Gophers.
The Badgers ended up beating the Gophers 41-23. They also held on to Paul Bunyan's axe for the seventh straight year. The axe is a trophy that goes to the winning team.
We didn't stay for the whole game, because I was getting tired. We rode our bike(s) back to the car.

Nekoosa GIANT Pumpkin Fest

We traveled north to Nekoosa, Wisconsin for the annual "Giant Pumpkin Fest". It was a breezy and cold Saturday afternoon. We met up with Molly & Bailey who came up the night before on their bus.

The name of the festival tipped me off that I might see some large or even giant pumpkins. I never in my wildest dreams believed I would see pumpkins this big. My goal is to live in a pumpkin someday.

The largest pumpkins in the world come to the festival to be officially weighed. It is somewhat of a qualifying round before moving on to another festival.

The pumpkins we saw tipped the scale at about 1,100 pounds. A world's record was set this year, when a Wisconsin man grew a 1,810 pound pumpkin.

The festival also had some nice rides. Here daddy and I are riding a ferris wheel. It was my first time on a ferris wheel. We would scream every time we reached the highest point.





Mommy volunteered daddy for the spinning tea cup ride. Mommy says she doesn't do "spinny rides".

The grand finale each day of the pumpkin fest is when they hoist a 1,ooo pound pumpkin by crane high into the sky and then drop it. It makes a big SPLAT! Then all the kids run out to collect the pumpkin bits.
