Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake was created by a collapsed volcano.

Wizard Island is a volcanic cinder cone. It looks a little bit like a wizard's hat.

Crater Lake gets it's deep blue color because the lake is deep and the water pure.  The lake absorbs the light giving the lake it's deep blue color.

The Pinnacles of Sand Creek Canyon.  These are ancient, fossilized volcanic vents.

The rocky islands just offshore are the ghosts of former headlands.  They are called "Sea Stacks". Surf gnaws away at the shoreline leaving hard rock behind.

We were not too far from Forks, WA.  Forks is the hometown for vampires in the "Twilight" series of books and movies.

I'll play in the ocean until the sun goes down.

The HOH Rainforest

The HOH Rainforest is in Olympic National Park.

It receives a lot of rain, but not the day we were there.
