Madeline Island, Wisconsin

We spent the "4th of July" weekend on Madeline Island. Madeline Island is a 30 minute ferry ride from Bayfield, Wisconsin. It is about as far north as you can go in Wisconsin.



We camped at Big Bay State Park. Watch out for the park's pesky squirrels. They stole our nuts! We left our campsite to visit the bathrooms. We were gone for about 20 minutes. It turns out it was plenty of time for a squirrel to raid our campsite. A squirrel climbed into a shopping bag, and quickly located a can of nuts with a plastic lid on the bottom of the bag. He (or she) then carved a squirrel size hole in the plastic lid and remove the nuts. I think we must have been under constant surveillance by squirrels our entire stay.

Lake Superior has very cold water. It didn't stop me from swimming.

R.I.P. Maybe

October 19, 1997 - July 7, 2010

I'm sad to report that I've lost an old friend. Maybe was always there for me and she will be missed. I couldn't have asked for a better friend.
I love Maybe!

She liked to play in the snow with me.
She always stayed nearby.
She never complained when I climbed all over her.
She never seemed to notice my strange outfits.
She loved to snuggle with me.
You may not know this, but Maybe was a Champion show dog in her heyday.
Thank you Maybe. I'm going to really miss you.
