Fishing at the Cabin

Over Labor Day Weekend we traveled up to uncle Gordie & aunt Tammy's cabin. We stopped for the night at Three Bears Lodge in Warrens, Wisconsin. It has a fantastic water park. We first had to stop for my official birthday dinner in the Wisconsin Dells. Do I look like a buffalo in this picture?
My main goal this trip was to catch a fish. Just one would be great. I went fishing earlier this Summer back in Madison and didn't catch jack squat!
One of the nice things about fishing off the boat dock is that you can see the fish swimming in the shallow water. I'm trying to tap a fish on the head to get it's attention.
It is always great to be reunited with my old friends Morgan (6) and Trevor (11). Here I'm playing lawn jarts/darts with Morgan.
Morgan's birthday is just a week after mine. Uncle Gordie and aunt Tammy threw us a birthday party complete with a snake shaped cake.

It was a great weekend and I can't wait until next year's fishing season.

6 Years Old Today!

This year September began with a "BANG!" and it wasn't just exploding balloons. September 1st was my first day of kindergarten and September 2nd my birthday. I turned 6 years old!

You can't see them, but one of my presents were robotic bugs. They would scurry about the floor going every which way.

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was the first day of kindergarten. I had been looking forward to this day for a long time. I woke up extra early and got dressed and ate my cereal extra fast. In fact, I was ready to go to school with almost 30 minutes to spare.

When I arrived at my school called New Century School the atmosphere could be best described as "chaotic". The hallways were clogged with moms, dads and kids going every which way. Dad was very familiar with my school because he attended 4th grade many, (many) years ago. Evidently, not much has changed aside from some new paint.
When I arrived in my new classroom it began to dawn on me that I didn't know anybody, not even my teacher Ms. Feller. The unfamiliarity of everything gave me an uneasy feeling. My day which had started with such a sense of excitement had quickly turned.
After collecting my morning snack in the hallway, I sat down at a table with my name on it. The first order of business was the morning announcements over the PA followed by the "Pledge of Allegiance". I have to admit I didn't even know the words.
Dad snapped this picture just before mom and dad left me for the day in my new classroom. They returned later that day to pick me up. The first thing they asked me was "how was your first day of kindergarten?". My reply without hesitation was "I liked it."

*** EDIT: After 1 week of kindergarten I was appointed class President. I told mom and dad it wasn't a very exciting job.
