Mount St. Helens

We had one big problem when we drove into Washington to see Mount St. Helens. It was overcast and raining on & off. We could not actually SEE Mount St. Helens.

We however had a "Plan B".  We went underground.  We hiked the lava tubes that flowed out of Mount St. Helens when it erupted in 1980.   

The particular lava tube we hiked was over 2 miles long! Our only light was a propane lantern.

We hiked until we could go no further.

We stopped at the visitor's center to learn as much about Mount St. Helens as we could.  We also got an opportunities to see everything we missed.
