Motovun, Croatia

Motovun is a tiny, medieval, hilltop town in the heart of the Istrian peninsula. It was less than a hour drive from our rental in Rovinj. Probably it's most famous (former) resident is race car driver Mario Andretti. Growing up,  he and his brother would race handcrafted wooden carts down the steep Motovun street. Motovun is also known for it's truffles. Truffles are an expensive delicacy that are dug up by specially trained dogs in a nearby forest.

"Dobar tek" obviously means "enjoy your meal" in Croatian.  A phrase we commonly used was "dobar dan!".  This means "good day".  

Does it get any better?  A great view while eating a GIANT Croatian hamburger for lunch.

Evidently the hamburger didn't completely fill me up.  I can usually find room for gelato.
